Robotics
Robotics Team
Robotics provides students the opportunity to incorporate STEM within JROTC through the implementation of engineering and computer science skills. Students will be required to brainstorm ideas and solve problems in order to design and build a robot made entirely from VEX Robotics components.
Cadets will be required to show their progress through the use of an Engineering Notebook. This notebook will be used to annotate every aspect of the robot building process from the transformation of an idea on the drawing board to a fully functioning competitive robot.
The V5 Kit engages students by bringing math, engineering, and computer science classes to life. Through hands-on building and programming, students can explore these subjects while moving at their own pace through our STEM Labs, or the hardware can be easily integrated into the existing curriculum.
The 2020-21 VEX Robotics Competiton is called Change Up and is played on a 12' X 12' square field configured as seen above. Two (2) Alliances - one (1) "red" and one (1) "blue" - composed of two (2) Teams each, compete in matches consisting of fifteen (15) second Autonomous Period, followed by a one minute and forty-five second (1:45) Driver Controlled Period. The object of the game is to attain a higher score than the opposing Alliance by placing Balls in Goals, and Connecting Rows.
